Decklan Molina
As a son, he was always a source of worry. As a brother, he was both a challenge and an inspiration. He didn't expect to get far in life, specially not in a field were he would both help people and learn all kind of surprising things almost every day.
And yet, he did. Finding love and help to raise a child almost as complicated as him was probably the most unexpected part.

Intellectual Characteristics
While not particularly smarter that the average, and despite his constant troubles to focus, he's an outstanding learner, which most would attribute to his insatiable curiosity. Not many know that he's also very good picking details and making sense of apparently unrelated pieces of information.
While inherently disorganized, he relies on technology to keep a system that allows him to organize his thoughts and priorities as well as half of the new information he gathers. It took him a long time to get there, and several attempts on notebooks and folders, since a friend suggested him to keep a journal.
Morality & Philosophy
Maybe it was all those superheroes's TV shows, but his family and friends certainly help to build the deep sense of responsibility that seems to define him.
It's not that simple, though.
He's convinced that everyone's on Earth (or the universe, to be more accurate) to learn and enjoy as much as they can. There are infinite questions in and outside his world, and even in and outside each person and he developed the certainty that they exist to be answered.
But discovery can't happen without mutual collaboration, and life itself it's plagued with difficulties that, according to his experience, cannot often be solved by the person or group that suffers them. So, just like an oghense would, he thinks that both survival and discovery depend on each person using their own gifts and circumstances to provide help to those who can use it, and being able to ask and accept assistance from others.
I save lives to earn a living, you know? They thank me, and they think I'm some sort of genius. But I'm not. I wouldn't have learn all this amazing things without the help of others, mostly my family and some college's teachers and classmates. And, here's the tricky thing: the teachers that let me down when I was young, did miracles for other kids. Nobody can help in every case, you see? But when we can, we should.

"If your culture is so homogeneous, one of you two has an odd name," Zovjo said.
Decklan let the puzzle at the side to answer. "Oh, yeah, that would be me. My dad took it from a movie or something. Just last year I found out that is not even spelled right. Not that I've ever heard about another girl with my sister's name... But it's cool, we don't envy the fate of all those Pedros turning around at the same time all day. Is your name normal here?"
"No," Zovjo answered, taken by surprise. "I mean, yes. Because we have a very heterogeneous culture, that means—"
"That nothing is weird, because everything is. I know. It's so awesome! What I would have done with the chance to be me without feeling weird, and see so many different things all the time! I would have..." He trailed off, his eyes following a flock of lizard-faced birds.
"You would have been distracted," his sister smiled warmly. "Nothing new there."
