Lien
Civilizations and Ethnicity
All the Lienitas live under the law of Nature, never interfering on the curse of natural events—except to save a life—, or killing anything that they hadn't raised or grow, and only when it's necessary to survive as humans. Instead of seeing themselves as keepers, enemies or owners of the other species, they believe to be another small and vital part on them, with specific needs and their own way to help and endanger the rest of the live in the world. As such, they protect life by not doing harm, but also by helping each other, sharing every possible resource, and following a complicated set of rules that constantly change as they understand their environment better, always looking for ways to lessen their negative impact on the rest of the living beings without renouncing to their own needs and natural behaviour. They don't have the long history of Ogha, but they are the only world that has a society more stable and peaceful. It is unnoticed by many, and a puzzle for the rest of us, but the Lienitas have achieved, without even thinking about it, the ultimate goal of Ogha: a law that applies to everyone without hurting minorities, and is followed without any kind of enforcement other than clear notion of the natural consequences of their acts —for the environment, their peers, and themselves. While we are bound to give use to the ability of saving and improving other's lives, those who suffer of face death as a result of defying nature, can and should be left to face the consequences of their acts. That doesn't mean that we should abandon them fully. Both the compassion and the need of company in our suffering are part of the human nature. Even the worst criminal should have someone to hold their hand at the end, and to learn from their mistakes.
Settlements
They organize in towns, cities, or families—or any combination of those—, as they please, some developing their own group codes.Abilities
The abilities that present randomly in the universe appear here in the same not-quite-pattern, and they don't have any particular ability that exists only in the region.Magic
All lienitas have voice magic to some degree. It uses words in Liem and in the First language. They are able to use D'hale spells, if they manage to properly pronounce them. The use of magic is regulated by the Nature's laws, mostly forbidding to use magic to destroy, hurt or to affect the environment in the long term. Most spells are meant for communication, protection, healing, and to save lives (not objects) during natural disasters—which rarely occur— and accidents.Technology
While they have strong and never-changing beliefs and the way they follow and describe the law makes them sound superstitious, they aren't. Quite the opposite: lienitas have a high understanding of all nature sciences, deepest than most civilizations in other worlds. They technology is not as comfortable or practical as the methods and tools used in other scientifically advances worlds, but they are first in sustainable production.History
Their traditions are very important for them, slowly built over the original belief of the nature as some sort of deity that they needed to understand —and please— in order to have good lives. They would share their theories with each other, and teach them to the new generations. Written language started as a way to communicate those things better, and they built public libraries way before they started to build anything else as community. A few stories and theories that varied a lot between different groups, turned into science almost as soon as they started to share knowledge. They would travel to libraries, which forced them to build better paths and develop hospitality, open minds and commerce systems, among other things. They had to start naming the settlements and reference points. They were still unable too fully understand nature when the traverlers from Dhha appeared; this was the first world they visited, and they were the first aliens in Lien. Back then Lienitas were divided in two categories: the normal people and the privileged ones, who knew which lands to choose and how to make them produce without causing the anger of Nature. They had already understand that everything was better for everyone when the privileged ones shared their knowledge with the other. They thought the aliens were Emisaries of Nature, which was the origin of the religion known as the Nature's Children, and followed their advise, which was consistent with their theories about nature and beneficial for both parts. Only then they started to use their magic, always following the Nature's laws. Even now the temples still exists, and they keep the knowledge they got from the Emissaries. They were happy to be part of the Fifth Planet Family too.Trivia
