Constellation: the Scales

"The story behind the constellation of the Scales is a tale of balance, justice, and cosmic retribution. In ancient times, long before the rise of the Maecodian Confederation, there were two powerful beings known as the Sower and the Reaper. The Sower was an archfey of abundance, fertility, and prosperity, while the Reaper represented the cycle of life and death, ensuring that all things returned to the earth when their time had come. As time passed, the Sower and the Reaper grew dissatisfied with the state of the mortal realm. They observed that the balance of nature was being disrupted by the actions of humanity. Greed, corruption, and injustice ran rampant, leading to the suffering of both the innocent and the guilty. The scales of fate were tipped, and chaos began to spread.   Fearing the eventual collapse of the delicate balance they had created, the Sower and the Reaper devised a plan. They chose two mortal champions, a brother, and a sister, who possessed exceptional wisdom and integrity. These champions were named Valerian and Seraphina.   Empowered by the fae folk, Valerian and Seraphina were gifted with magical scales. These scales could measure the true weight of a person's actions, intentions, and character. The champions became known as the Justicar and the Arbitress, respectively, and their task was to bring balance and justice to the world.   The Justicar and the Arbitress traveled across the land, seeking out those who had strayed from the path of righteousness. With their magical scales, they weighed the hearts of men, exposing the truth of their deeds. Those who were found to be guilty of wickedness faced punishment, while those who were found to be just and virtuous were rewarded.   Through their efforts, Valerian and Seraphina restored balance and harmony to the world. They punished tyrants and evildoers, and their mere presence served as a deterrent to those who would seek to disrupt the natural order.   As time went on, the legends of Valerian and Seraphina spread, and they became symbols of justice and virtue. After their mortal lives came to an end, the gods placed them among the stars as the constellation of the Scales. To this day, their celestial presence reminds the people of the Maecodian Confederation of the importance of balance and fairness, inspiring them to uphold the principles of justice and righteousness in their lives."   ~Grandmaster Jeren, of the Golden Tower
Latefall to Midwinter   Eight stars representing the scales of justice   When the Scales are clearly visible, it is believed to bring harmony, fairness, and balanced decision-making to matters of law and judgment.   When Mizov joins the Scales, it casts a shadow over the constellation, indicating an imbalance in justice and foretelling of corruption or unjust rulings.
