Feywild
"The Feywild? Now you're talking! You'll taste colors you've never heard before!"
~Seak Beardo Von Shmit, Abide and Seak's Bizarre Bazaar
Geography
The Feywild is a technicolor landscape of rapidly shifting seasons and wilderness of all kinds. Colors are brighter, life is more vibrant, and everything is frantic, wild, and emotional. Even the immortal Archfey that run the plane are dynamic and ever-changing.
Ecosystem
The Feywild doesn't make any sense to mortals. Directions are a suggestion, permanency is a joke, and nothing is exactly what it seems.
Ecosystem Cycles
The 'seasons' change when the Archfey in charge of a realm switches alleigance.
Localized Phenomena
Archfey rule the Feywild. Everything around them respond to their whims; the weather, the flora and fauna, the temperature, colors, smells, tastes, textures, even the shapes of beings far enough below them in rank warp and twist at their merest thought.
Fauna & Flora
Most of the plants and low animals are actually sprites, which is to say the departed, good souls of mortals that have passed on. While they incarnate in the Feywild as sprites, many will experiment as wildlife or plants to experience that life for a time. Squirrels, raccoons, trees, flowers, all related to the personal identity, curiosity, and whims of the sprites that become them make up the base flora and fauna of the plane.
That being said, the Feywild is absolutely teeming with fey life at all times, and there is barely a space to catch one's breath before another torrent of wild passion from one source or another sweeps a visitor up.
Natural Resources
Food from the fey imparts intense feelings of euphoria and good health. Elvenkind, especially High Elves and Eladrin, maintain a strict control of trade in fey fruit.
Mithril mines dot the landscape, and the Feywild is the most common source for such material.
