The footprint score of an organization represents its size and manpower in a given area of influence. This functions as the HP of the organization for the purposes of interacting with other groups, and is abstracted to simplify comings and goings as people retire, move on, etc.

Footprints can be split to establish new footprints in other areas. To do so, the leaders of the organization must simply split off a number of people to equal the desired Footprint Score of the new area, applying any resulting change to their size die.
To gain members, the organization takes the
Muster action.
When two organizations come into conflict, follow the
Conflict rules to determine winners and losses.
