Golemarie (go-LEM-ah-REE)

"The golemarie may seem threatening, but they make sure that nobody is breaking the law. Good for me, good for you. Provided of course you don't intend to break the law. We find that choosing between petty theft and having the correct number of bones is a near-flawless deterrence."   ~Grandmaster Jeren, of The Golden Tower

Composition

Manpower

Delegations of Golemarie are 6-12 golems led by a journeyman, who uses a baton to give orders to control an area or accomplish a task. These journeymen have no official extra title, but are often known casually as 'mudshepherds'.

Equipment

The clayshepherds use a control baton to give orders to the golems directly regardless of distance. The golems themselves are unarmed.

Structure

The journeymen in charge of the golems operate largely independently of each other, each of them collectively answering to the masters of the Golden Tower.

Tactics

The golems operate on simple combative programming; when an enemy is fighting, they seek to pound them into jelly. When an enemy surrenders or is rendered unconscious or dead, one golem in the group will insert the enemy's arms and feet up to the elbows and knees into its torso and march them back to the journeyman while the unencumbered golems will continue confronting the enemy or accomplishing the task.

Training

Tyros and apprentices who show an aptitude for combat typically get tasked to take over a baton when a clayshepherd is ready to raise to the status of a master. A two month changeover is typical between the old and new Journeymen. This individual training has led to individual Delegations of the Golemerie carrying 'legacy' baggage and reputations, and a fair amount of competitiveness and jealousy exists between each of them.

Logistics

Logistical Support

Only the Journeyman needs to eat, and thus even in the field there is little to no need for supply lines.
