Honored Elder

"Don't bullshit me, I can count on my bad hand the number of times you have called someone 'elder' outside your forest," Tussolynn said, wiggling the three fingers on the hand in question. "And aint even them gets 'Honored' tacked onto it. So why you goin' and callin a deckhand 'Honored Elder' out here in the ass end of nowhere."
"For you information, you overheard the tail end of the conversation, I said 'for the Honored Elder' offering a token of our gratitude to the captain of this vessel. We have passage at the turning of the tide onboard The Reliable Puffin, one of the finest ships out of Autumnrise. Best be getting our things." With that Halafarin turned and headed back up the dock

Honored Elder is a title given by the elves to anyone from Autumnrise. Or rather, it is given to the Autumnrise Aspen and so by extension those that it has a psychic link with. While the reason is apparent to those that know of the Aspens existance, by some agreement the elves try to keep the Aspens existance from the world at large.
As a result, elves have come up with a number of excuses over the years, usually dealing with an old obscure local custom. However, elves always treat those with "autumn eyes" with respect, considering them an honored guest in the old fae traditions. That is to say any insult or injury offered to an Honored Elder is considered to have been done to the elves. While this has not ever led to a declaration of war, power in the region understand that Elven nations the world over have a pact with Autumnrise. offering a slight to an Honored Elder is an esy way to get blacklisted amongst the elves.
Elves will occasionally ask for the opinion of an Honored Elder in a dispute of advice on a venture. While the advice is freely given, whether it comes from the person or the Aspen not even the elves know.
