On the different types of Apparitions
"Okay now we have been studying the classes of Apparitions all week, so, who can tell me what Jacob here is? Yes, Guinevere."
"Is it a Phantasm, professor?"
"Come now Guinevere, Jacob is a he, not an it. We can at least be civil to our subjects. And no, phantasms only appear to the person they are haunting unless one casts certain spells or is wearing enchanted lenses. Anyone else, Lucian, what about you?"
"I.. I dont know professor, ghost I guess"
"Confidence next time Lucian, you are correct. Jacob is a ghost, teathered to this classroom at the time of his demise. That is the main difference between a ghost and a specter. A Ghost haunts a place, a Specter haunts a person. Poltergeists are malevolent, or at the least mischievious, ghosts more able to affect the physical realm than most of their kind. A phantasm is a specter summoned with necromancy and given power to haunt a specific person, usually to their death. Now if you can turn to page 79 of 'Deceiving Death and Misleading Mortality' we shall begin learnign the basic wards..."
How casual the teach is vs the image is rather amusing. Lovely little snippet.
