The Brick

If you ever find yourself in Silmere I highly recommend visiting The Brick, best inn in the city by a large margin, and not just because of the food and ale.
— Jasper Cameron, Leader of the Bronze Ravents
The Brick may not be a masterclass in architecture like some of the other buildings in SIlmere. Located just inside the western gate of the city, it is unmistakable being, in essense a massive version of the clay bricks most of the cities other buildings are made of.   Sorry, not in essense, it is, in actuality, a massive brick that has had an inn carved out of it. While no one quite knows how this massive brick was made, there are advantages to the unique construction. Whether in the heat of High summer or the cold of winter, the inside is always a comftorable temperature. It is also reasonably fireproof, a thing that has been tested once or twice by overzealous adventurers.   The food is amazing. Wonderful seafood is brought up daily from the docks, so seafood chowders and fried fish are always available. Its location on the landward side also give it wonderful access to game and livestock entering the city.   Attached to the kitchen is also a dedicated smokehouse, which produces not only wonderful slow cooked meats like pulled pork and smoked tuna, but also wonderfully cured meats to use as travel rations. The rations are so good that almost all are pre-sold months in advance to the ships and trade caravans.   There is also, of course, the smoked whiskeys and rums. Barrels have been bought from all over the world. They are poured out in shallow troughs in the cold smoking chamber and exposed to smoke over the course of several hours. It is then re-bottled (or barreled) and sold. The fact that it is shipped as far as the dwarfhome of Osect is a testament to how unique and delicious it is.
