The Last Letter of Damien Dreamblossom
A letter found on the body of a courier that was tracked to the last vampire coven in the city of Pearlcrown Warf
To Whom It May Concern, Congratulations! You, with your constant surveilance and cunning mind, have managed to intercept this letter of great import to my organizations plans. You should be proud, this is no small feat. Bravo to you! I admit we never had a chance at pulling the wool over your eyes. Your surveilance of me and my organization has been truly something of legend. Is there a god on your side, an archmage who specializes inscrying, or perhaps you are a psychic of incredible ability? Whichever of these is the case, we were outmatched, something that I here plainly admit. I only hope that when the end comes for us you are quick and merciful about it. I mean how were we to know that the last scion of the murdered House Lindemann would dedicate his life to vengence on us? How could we expect the depths of your anger when you returned from fighting in a border war we manufactured to find that we had sacraficed your family in a blood ritual for the betrayal offered us more than two centuries past? I mean, the time you spent meticulously discovering that the bars and other establishments that I frequented these past years were not in fact my rivals, but my own... brilliant. I appreciate the loyalty those captured in your raids showed, insisting that they had never worked for me, for I know before you executed them they endured no small ammount of persuasion at the hands of your interrogators. I hope one day I can inspire such loyalty in others as I was able to draw from them, insisting they never worked for me until their dying breath. It is my sincere hope that you keep this letter as prominently displayed as the banneres of conquered foes were in times past, for you have beaten us just as soundly and deserve a reminder of this hard earned victory. We are routed, my only hope is that caaptuing the courier of this letter and destroying the last of our holdouts to which he is delivering it has given me enough time to escape this dreadful city.
Framed Letter in the Study of the Princeps of Pearlcrown Warf
My Friend Ishmael,
I hope this finds you well, as up until now our plan has worked wonderfully. I still think we are better off converting Lord Lindemann rather than just killing him. Yes he has much to learn in both statecraft and subterfuge, but his ruthlessness and dedication are both things that can be turned great effect should he be gifted with another few centuries to hone his skills.
I am sure you are reading the actual contents of this letter to him as he lies dying somewhere in the room, wondering what happened. Do not gloat to him overmuch, while I cannot say he was a worthy opponent he at least made it interesting. It is only through his hard work that I was able to so efficiently clear out this city of undesirables. he even taught me some wonderful new techniques that I simply cannot wait to try. I mean, who would have ever thought to take a small drill to someone's teeth?
You should find most of those loyal to Lord Lindemann drugged and restrained either at the Laughing Coffin or the Butchers Hook. Yes I can see you rolling your eyes, but you know a love names so obvious no self respecting vampire would even bother to hide there.
I hope that once the good lord has accepted his new lot in life and learned a bitof self control you send hime to me. I think we have found a true gem in him and would love to polish out his rough edges as you once did to me. I'm sure his sister would also appreciate a visit if he can make it to Narrow Cliffs.
I know you are even more busy than I am with this little fracas with the Fae, but if you have the time I do recommend staring for the Aurora. It is a beautiful sight.
Your Loyal Friend, Damien
