Ancient Mandran
Though their people are gone, their tongue has left its mark on the land
Ancient Mandran
The Tongue of the Mandrans, original settlers of Koleris. This is opposed to New Mandran which is the language spoken by many of the Nomads.
Most of the ancient language and it's day to day meaning is lost but writing in Ruins remain, and several scholars have spent their careers in reconstructing this original tongue. One difficulty posed is the inherent danger found in Mandran ruins, as many creatures are attracted to them for unknown reason. This of course has made the study of the language more difficult.
Scholars debate often why Ancient Mandran has left so small an impression, on any modern language, mainly being present in place names. Some say that this is proof that the modern inhabitants of Koleris are completely distinct from the ancient mandrans and that they have all perished.
There is also uncertainty as to why the nomadic cultures of the continent insist that they are new mandrans, as their language does not share any of the grammar of the old tongue.
Though much meaning has been lost, we have identified the meaning of several ancient Mandran words.
