The Divine Kako the Deep reveals that clearcoral has special properties that allows people to make their own Ink.

Enamored with Novian Weimer and his love for the newfound magic of Inkweaving, Kako the Deep shows Novian that a special coral called clearcoral within Protheroe's oceans, when ground into a fine powder, can cause special properties in normal ink, which will turn it to magical Ink.   Novian is thrilled and proceeds to gather help from several friends to harvest clearcoral, and begins experimenting with the first manmade Ink.
