Arkouda

The Arkouda are a race of bearlike humanoids. They have large heads, noses, ears and thick claws that resemble those of a bear. Their bodies are completely covered in fur that come in a wide array of different colors. Some wear stripes or collars of another fur color as a sign of respect to their ancestors. When the Arkouda reaches adulthood, some leave on a quest to test their skill in battle. When they finally return, they add their combat knowledge to their tribe and can pass down their fighting skills to the next generation. More than anything else, this is a spiritual journey for the Arkouda. In Arkoudan culture, tradition is very important. The places where they live is often locations that they have returned to for generations. Maintaining sacred ancestral lands and ensuring the tribe's safety is of utmost importance.
Ability Scores. STR +1
Age. Arkouda mature at 10 years, and live up to 60 years.
Size. Stand between 6-8ft tall, and weigh between 240-380 pounds. Size is Medium.
Speed. Walking speed 30ft.
Languages. Speak, read and write Common and Arkoudan.
Keen Smell. Advantage on Perception checks that rely on smell.
Natural Weaponry. Can use claws and bite as unarmed strike with proficiency. You can choose to deal slashing dmg or bludgeoning(claw) or piercing(bite) dmg equal to 1d4+STR.
Powerful Build. You count as one size larger when determining carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift.
Hibernation. If you prepare yourself by consuming double the amount of food you require to live for at least a month, you can enter a state of deep sleep for a number of months equivalent to your proficiency bonus.
Your metabolism slows, you do not need food or water, and you are immune to cold dmg caused by your environment.
You can awaken yourself at any time. If you take dmg or are forced to make a saving throw, you awaken. If you have been hibernating for at least 1 month when you awaken, you must immediately succeed on a DC 12 CON saving throw or suffer from one level of exhaustion.
Tribal Ancestry. Choose one of the following tribes: Hashen, Makiwa or Helarkin.
