Authority

Magisters work directly under the authority of the emperor, and so are granted more freedom in their pursuit of safety and justice. The IDM branch in Arcelia is led by Director Aline Compow. As she often is dealing with bureaucratic matters, she leaves most of the investigations to Chief Magister Bernard Brenton. Where normal guards must acquire warrants, IDM magisters are trusted not to abuse their authority. However, they are still required to give testimony and fill out the necessary paperwork to justify their actions. A magister who abuses his power will find himself demoted, punished or possibly even in prison. Usually, magisters hand over suspects to the local guard force, but the IDM Headquarters  does have specially prepared cells for more dangerous criminals. These cells are constructed with enchantments that nullify magic and other warding agents. Every magister has access to handcuffs and mage-cuffs are given to every unit.
