Chwetla

The Chwetla resemble bipedal owls, but have no wings and small, talon-fingered hands. They are short, but have enhanced musculature due to their common ancestry with owlbears. Chwetla are natural and talented hunters, highly adaptable and great survivalists. To them it makes no difference if they live in forests, mountains or even deserts. Chwetla always mate for life. They tend to have smaller family structures, and when a family grows too large, the eldest child is encouraged to leave and start their own family. In Chwetlan culture, leaving the nest is the mark of adulthood and a cause for celebration. Chwetla are typically cautious, slow-trusting, and almost shy at times. If one has the privilege to befriend a Chwetla though, you almost certainly have a lifelong friend or ally.
