Dwarves

The Solinok, “The Earthen”

The Solinok are partially made of stone, metal or gems, or a mixture of all three. Both their flesh and soul changes to become partially elemental. Even if a Solinok is partially made of other materials than flesh, they can still move normally and has the same needs as other living creatures. The Solinok hold the earth and stone around them as sacred. They can mourn as much for a collapsed cavern as for their fallen comrades. Like the unexplored mountains and caves, the Solinok prefer the world to stay still, unpolished and unchanged. They like the natural order of things. They see volcanic eruptions or earthquakes as nature's way of speaking to mortals. Preferably, the Solinok would live in natural caverns with only crude tools, as nature intended. They view the encroaching civilization as mortals trying to chain and exploit the god that is nature. Even so, the Solinok are forced to accept civilization and many live together with the other races, even if they do so with a heavy heart. Anyone who befriends a Solinok, gains their respect and shows proper dedication in their relationship may someday be invited to their secretive innermost circle.

The Caminus, “Fire Hammers”

These dwarves have a deep connection to fire, and their very souls are imbued with the fire of the furnaces where they work their steel. Even their appearance are linked to fire and heat. Caminus can range from grey, pitch black and covered in reddish cracks, and their hair can be entirely made of smoke and fire, or even shiny and metallic, or somewhere in between. To the Caminus, the bubbling of molten metal is a song to their ears, and each hit of the hammer vibrates with their very soul. Their understanding of blacksmithing runs deep, on an almost carnal level. Caminus are like fire itself; intense, wild and passionate. They care little for their ancestors and the past. For them, a new flame is always rising and they use that flame to break apart something and build something new and improved. Other races mostly view the Caminus as eccentric and whimsical, as they often toil away in their workshops. Some also view them as dangerous, as they have the tendency to let their flames get out of control, causing serious damage to nearby structures.
