Tasbaqa

The Tasbaqa are humanoids with reptilian features. They carry large, hard shells on their backs, which provides great protection. Many Tasbaqa are wanderers, travellers or adventurers. A lot of them are very eager to learn new traditions or customs. This is because they rarely feel the need to lay down their roots in a single place, because of the notion that they carry their house on their backs. While many Tasbaqa end up wanderers, many also choose to remain in their homeland working as miners, hunters or foragers. Tasbaqa enjoy mental pondering, thoughtful conversation, and collecting ancient lore. They also seek meaning in the simple acts of daily life, and as such has led some to believe that Tasbaqa are naive, slow and primitive, but in reality Tasbaqa society are driven by centuries of learning and careful thought, most often collected in the minds of elder Tasbaqa. They collect tales, history, science, and any other knowledge they can from travelers who pass through their communities.
Ability Scores. STR +1, WIS +1
Age. Reach adulthood by the age of 15 and live an average of 50 years.
Size. Stand 5-6ft tall and average about 450 pounds. Their shells account for roughly one-third of their weight. Size is Medium.
Speed. Walking speed is 30ft. Swim speed is 25ft.
Languages. You can speak, read and write Common and one other language of your choice.
Claws. Can use your claws to make unarmed strikes. If you hit, you deal 1d4+STR slashing dmg.
Hold Breath. You can hold your breath for up to 1 hour.
Natural Armor. Due to your shell and the shape of your body, you are ill-suited to wearing armor. Your shell gives you a base AC
of 17. You can use a shield and apply the bonus as normal.
Shell Defense. You can withdraw into your shell as an action. Until you emerge, you gain +4 AC and have advantage on STR and CON saving throws. While in your shell, you speed is 0 and you are prone, you have disadvantage on DEX saving throws, you can’t take reactions and the only action you can take is a bonus action to emerge from your shell.
Survival Instinct. Proficiency in Survival.
