Volucran

The Volucran are large, humanoid birds with sharp talons. Feathers cover most of their bodies, and while the females have more mellow coloration, commonly gray or brown, the males have more brightly colored feathers. Due to their superior flying ability, they are great hunters and fight with a remarkable speed and grace in combat. Most Volucran live in or near the mountains because they have an inner need to feel free and desire to spread their wings. Volucran have little interest in dealing with other races, and less interest in spending time on the ground. For this reason, it takes an exceptional circumstance for them to leave their settlement and undertake an adventurer’s life. Neither treasure nor glory is enough to lure them from their mountain. Only a dire threat to their people, a mission of vengeance or a catastrophe can get the Volucran to consider leaving their villages. Most of all, Volucran enjoy peace and solitude, and because of this they are considered a bit grumpy and reclusive by other races.
