Volucris

The Volucris are an avian race, but with more humanoid features than their relatives, the Volucran. The Volucris lack wings but retain avian features such as a dark beak and hands and feet with talons. They have beady, black eyes and are covered with dark feathers. The Volucris are a very communal people, who are centered around family. Almost all Volucris are excellent storytellers and chroniclers but also very organized and engaged in whatever community they live in. Many Volucris are employed as archivists, poets, minstrels, authors or live as leaders of smaller communities. Many of the Volucris are wanderers who live outside civilization. These Volucris earn money by telling fortunes and selling information and spend whatever they earn to support a lavish lifestyle, display their wealth openly as a sign of prosperity, and share their good fortune with family and friends. These Volucris families are closely knit, and resolve disagreements through contests of singing, dancing and storytelling.
