T'Lalia

The once fertile belt region of Kor has largely been reduced to immense factory farming, expansive greenhouse-complexes, and complex tiered irrigation steppes. After all, it takes a lot of food to feed The City. The only truly wild places these days are in the coastal province of T’Lalia where the Sacred Pacts have allowed the creation of The Sanctuary.   Not many immigrant to T’Lalia, their strict hierarchical caste system discourages outsiders from attempting to slip into the T’Lalli social structure. Though work visas are often issued to outsiders to perform the work that not even the lowest-T’Lall would perform: mostly maintenance on the sweeper-barges and jobs where mechanical expertise is required but is also dirty work.

Geography

The land of T'Lalia is heavily forested; nearly jungle in the sheer amount of flora that permeates the area.   Immense granite and quartz tors dot the landscape making development difficult but also provides several valleys and peaks in which the flora and fauna can thrive.   The majority of the settlements have been founded on the sandy-beach coast.

Fauna & Flora

Here, in The Sanctuary, the T’Lall tend to their gardens, baths, and groves in peace. Sophisticated Climate Control Satellites (CCS) are positioned in geostationary orbit over The Sanctuary ensuring the region is constantly perfectly suited to the native flora and fauna. These plants and beasts have mostly been driven to extinction everywhere except T’Lalia. So, it’s with no small degree of pride that the T’Lall foster these creatures and plants and ensure their health and safety.   From tiny mammals and gargantuan trees, from translucent orthoscyphozoa (flying jellyfish) to enormous reptilian beasts (and everything in between), The Sanctuary is host to the widest variety of creatures in Kor'Dhuum.

Natural Resources

T’Lalia is also renowned for its top tier hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and pharmaceutical laboratories as their access to the bounty of The Sanctuary is exclusive and unquestioned. That also means, though, that less scrupulous entrepreneurs have developed an extensive and profitable black market network smuggling drugs, serums, ivory, and other raw materials out of The Sanctuary.   The demand for such unspoiled beauty and nature has lead to the rise of eco-tourism which brings wealthy families from the City to the many ocean-side resorts of The Sanctuary. They go on safari to observe near-mythical beasts in their native habitat, dine on an abundance of fruit and vegetables you can’t find outside T’Lalia, and swim in the pristine ocean water (kept pristine by a large flotilla of automated sweeper-barges and floating pollutant-sponges).
