The Wastes

The Wastes is a centuries-old refuse dump for The City.
The Wastes was once a nature preserve bound by the Sacred Pact. It nevertheless succumbed to the demands of The City and bit by bit, restrictions and regulations were lifted until the Wastes became the dump for a city of billions.
Every day, more and more haulers can be seen dropping refuse into the Heap. Scrappers, Hunters, and other desperate or curious people often brave the Wastes in search of forgotten lore, technology, and other treasures left over from bygone eras.
Several rival gangs have taken control over large swathes of the Wastes in their attempts to profit from the treasures to be found within.

Geography

The Wastes are a section of the Kor belt dominated by canyons, bluffs, and desert. Though, it would be difficult to know that just by looking at it. The Wastes have been the dumping ground for The City's trash collection for centuries and is dominated by heaps of garbage, toxic chemicals, old vehicles, and other detritus from a planet-wide metropolis.

Fauna & Flora

Little of the original flora and fauna exist here anymore. Those that remain have adapted to survive in the grotesque and toxic environment.
Among the heaps of garbage and other foul effluences from the City, one can find fungal growths (both harmful and beneficial), bacterial ponds, clouds of microscopic parasites, and corrupted species of all types stalk within the trash-heaped canyons.

Natural Resources

Not much in the way of natural resources remain after millennia of exploitation. What little precious metals there was were mined centuries ago. Instead, the Wastes have been known to hold innumerable treasure from civilizations past, discarded yet wonderous contraptions, and powerful relics from forgotten wars.
The honeycomb of tunnels and ruined towns and small cities left over from the mining operations house the few denizens destitute or desperate enough to try to make the Wastes their home.
