Session 40: All Kinds of Artwork...
General Summary
Throughout their travels, the Cherry Smashers heard whispers of the two missing sisters, including that Samyra was always in the presence of a large, veiled person. Whispers telling them it was someone called the Bloody Budha. A’flora, assumed as the Halfling slave, was recently lost to the Laughing Killer, The Dancing Dasard – so named for his love of drinking, dancing, and singing.
Going through the dead, they find a few sets of iron knuckles and about 210 yuon. While searching Silas describes wanting a cherry blossom tattoo with the blossoms falling on his ARM, prompting Sikander to want something similar. Anya shakes her head amused as she takes a closer look at one of the men with a blue/red dragon tattoo that seems to be moving and possibly sentient. She tries to speak with it and ends up gently touching it, which allows it to move off the dead man and onto her. For a moment, it wrestles with her own Sentinel Mark, but she maintains control as it settles as a half moon around the outside of her right eye.
Continuing to search the room, Sikander takes several of the bodies and starts folding them in various ways to shove them into cabinets while Anya ends up with the powerful bow staff they found tucked away. Hoping to ease their way through the building, Silas and Offa become Little Brother and Anki while the party heads for the elevator. Coming into the large room, the doors open, and they encounter a new guy sent to deal with intruders. Silas waves him off as Offa walks up and takes the whistle away. He starts shouting, creating a stir of movement on the floor below, but is calmed enough to be convinced that Sikander is a prisoner of theirs. The new guy walks up and hits Sikander and clearly expects Silas to join in. He does, then (while still disguised) orders the kid to go be with Gorahashi while they head out. (Sikander, meanwhile, manages to restrain himself from retaliating)
They enter the elevator, and go to the second floor, encountering a large group of Yakuza. Anya shifts to the front and nearly convinces them to let the party pass (thanks to her new tattoo) until one of them recognizes it has his brothers, throwing the party into another fight.
Anya and Tal tag team one, while Silas comes out with Featherfall. Offa tries to mentally attack the Yakuza while Sikander comes out swinging with his “Skullcrusher” unarmed strike. The fight continues, with Anya incapacitating the Yakuza, Offa attempting to mind sliver again and sending Vlad up the elevator to scout ahead, while Silas gets another Yakuza through the heart.
One throws little paper fans that hit Sikander and drink his blood as they slice him. Sikander responds by grabbing him by the wrists and attempts to use the metal claws to attack another Yakuza. He missed, so turned the claws on the restrained Yakuza, poisoning him with Bloat and causing him to explode. Everyone becomes covered in hall with viscera, the heart lodged in Sikander’s throat as he stands holding the metal claws with hands still attached. Offa is blinded, Tal trapped under intestines, and Vlad is hit by an eye ("He didn't bat an eye").
The fight apparently ended, Anya helps clear Sikander’s throat as he chokes on the heart while Offa locates treasure and struggles to figure out how to open the chests.
During all of this, Silas avoids the bodily explosion by slipping into another room and watches as the remaining Yakuza enters via a secret door. He finds Minotama standing before him and goes to town on him. Minotama heals himself as Silas taunts him, preparing to attack while Sikander figures out how to remove the hands from metal claws. Anya, hearing Silas fighting, returns and fires Winter’s Dawn. Silas finishes him off and starts going through their pockets finding a very sharp, blue handled magical Katana, a tiger stripe opal, 68 gold, and a tiny pouch that was good luck until it was opened.
Seeing the tattoo on Minotama and remembering Anya’s new magical tattoo, Silas reaches out and touches healing tattoo, struggles against it and finds himself hearing whispers in Nejongan that Sense occasionally translates. Sikander, still in the hall, puts the claws on [made by Pokedu-man (Gnomes of this region)] and poisons himself in the process. Anya and Silas head to the hall and find him, with Anya healing him as they head to find Offa.
Back in the other room, Offa starts going through the chests and finds them empty. There is a stack of rice paper bookmark, a brush, and an ink brick. They try treating them like nesting dolls with no success until Offa heads off to speak with the dead, picking up the exploded face and manages to learn they are to write the name of the treasure they seek, and it should appear for them. Different treasures included the gold and magical items stolen from 1000 widows, the tears of the orphans, the wails of women, and the lamentations of the men. Offa also learns Akira is stashed in a cabinet back by the elevator and the party panics thinking it is the cabinet Sikander shoved several dead bodies into. As they have this realization, Offa sends eldritch blasts into the ceiling of the elevator shaft and creates a sneaky way up for Vlad to scout ahead, who sees The Bloody Buddha waiting for them.
