Session 51: So What Were We Doing Again?
General Summary
The fight on the plateau continues, with the Geisha and her dolls fighting Sikander, Tal, Silas, and Offa. While the guys fight them off, Neladrie flies out to the god of pleasure and surrounds the two of them with a Wall of Fire to protect him from further injury as the God Eater tadpoles continue to swarm.
As the she creates the barrier, Silas and Sense use the scent of holy water to distract the God Eaters, Offa uses Banishment and Synaptic Static on the dolls, while Sikander uses Tinkerbell against the tadpoles successfully.
Back on the barge, Neladrie heals the god while the wall of fire continues to block them from view. The guys continue fighting, with Silas casting dissonant whispers on the beast and Tal getting injured from a doll. Some of the tadpoles come after them on the ledge while they continue trying to come through the fire wall unsuccessfully.
Seeing the fire, the guys believe Neladrie may be dead and do what they can to avenge her...or Anya....difficult to separate the two. In actuality, Neladrie manages to steer the barge toward the ledge, bringing it in for a crash landing and damaging the stone in the process. As the fire wall fades, Silas, Offa, Sikander, and Tal finally catch sight of the injured god and Neladrie. They take time to explain the God Eaters, the danger he and all the other gods are in, and that the Cherry Smashers are trying to stop them along with rescuing Samyra from the Dragontooth Step Castle.
To thank them, he grants the party a boon of whatever they would ask of him (ie Wish). After much conversation, sharing in the divine sake, and learning the moon goddess has lost several aspects, the party asks for the ability to walk through the God Eater miasma unharmed (granting necrotic resistance). Silas continues explaining that Samyra is his lost twin and the fear she is being used by Lord Mirt and the God Eaters, prompting the god to give him two coins on a string, telling him to keep them on his person and they will bring him luck.
Continuing to partake of the divine sake, Neladrie and Silas hold their alcohol, while Sikander downs four massive drafts and ends up drunk for two solid days.
As they all drink, Offa begins to have a small, private crisis as sharp sand comes out of his nose and a voice speaks to him, "I am devouring you Amantadillo. Wait until the fat god is gone and I wish to address your friends." Offa insists on keeping the conversation to himself, hiding his distress.
As they guys get drunk, Neladrie casts Druid Grove, giving them protection and the ability to rest [Would that have given us the benefit of a long rest??] while Sikander sleeps off his stupor. When everyone finally wakes, the walk to the edge of the caldera and start making their way down the steps.
(Offa still having the mental conversation: "Yes, join us Offa" "I have my own plans, but sure." "Your plans are my plans now. Perhaps you should name me so you know what to call me when I whisper. My real name is Emptiness.")
Looking into the caldera, the peak of castle is visible carved from black rock and they get their first look at Dragontooth Step Castle. Moving down the stone steps, Silas is frozen in place on one of them. They quickly realize every 7, 14, 21 is a stone devouring step, so Neladrie uses the diamond she stopped Sikander from throwing over the edge of the cliff to restore Silas and prevent him from becoming petrified.
Continuing further down, Neladrie and Sikander hear an odd noise and the party finds themselves surrounded by odd draconic/serpent female creatures called Shee. Seven eventually reveal themselves and begin attacking the party.
They all kick into defense mode and start dealing with them, including Neladrie summoning two bears to their aid. During the fight, a figure appears as a despondent gnome pretending to be Samyra. Silas struggles with her leading questions as Offa attacks her, commenting that she is just a snake lady. Armed with Offa's observation, Silas goes to attack and casts Dissonant Whispers and kills her in the process.
