Session 54: She's Been Poking me in the Dwarf Dumbells
General Summary
As they gather, voices are heard around the corner, sending everyone into hiding:
- Silas creates a minor illusion as a barrel
- Offa disguises himself to look like the Yakuza, including fang marks
- Clover blends into the wall
- Selle and Tal head to the stairs while Anya shoves Sikander into the clothing box, then follows the pair.
Silas asks Sense to send a sulfur scent out to help dissuade the two vampires from approaching. As they come closer, one vampire pulls Sikander out of the clothing while Selle discovers a small, beautiful, lacquered box on the next floor. Anya, Silas, Offa, Clover, and Tal all attack the vampires while Sikander is held. Offa casts Feeblemind on Mentral, telling him, “We are dust the world is meaningless my immortal” while the other injure and frightens him. Clover beheads one of while the other is left weeping.
As they finish and head up the stairs, Selle tries to pick up the box and gets fugu fish poisoned. He quickly heals himself while Clover discovers it is covered in traps that the group struggles to solve. The almost get the hummed song figured out but are still missing a note when Anya looks at Sikander, telling him to take action if this doesn’t work as A’flora was trapped in a fight above them.
Hearing this, he takes off as Laserie takes over prompting her to grab the fleeing dwarf. In her confused state, she lets him go while the other work to figure out why this happened to Anya again.
Sikander:
Sikander comes to, finding himself tied with silken ropes and hanging “Donald Ducking” from the ceiling, while a feminine chuckle comes from the corner. She eggs him while he struggles against the bonds, eventually stabbing him in the groin with a long needle. The phrase “He who has my testicles has my heart and mind” is at the forefront of his mind.
Hoping to take control, he tries Commanding Masako Zamai, the Ink Witch, to “Untie” but she resists the spell, saying she will when she is good and ready and then shoves another needle into him.
Pulling out the brazier, Masako explains that she is going to turn him into a soul tattoo to add to her collection. Hoping to distract her, Sikander starts telling a story about a Sumo and asking about her familiar – Gnomey.
Party:
A Yakuza comes after them as Sikander runs off, so Silas throws the box at him then goes to attack, with Laserie coming in to finish him off. Moving up to the next floor, Clover finds a very dangerous floor trap while Silas finds a poison covered paper door. Clover finds a chair and throws it at her trap, setting off a Death Breath Spore cloud that catches her and begins poisoning her. Laserie, very irritated, pulls her out and shoves her toward the rest of the party while Offa uses his Mage Hand to open the paper door, allowing everyone to enter the odd family room.
While they look through the room, Silas and Laserie go back and forth about Cherry Blossoms, sisters and vampires. The others are particularly creeped out by the dolls sitting around the low table with soup bowls before them. Once everyone is in the family room, a few of them hear Sikander’s cursing, prompting Clover to detect the witch as Fey. Offa tries to open the door with his Mage Hand and finds a magical barrier on the door
Sikander tries to make a deal, and the Ink Witch agrees – if he will pledge to become a cherry blossom, then she would spare his life. He baulks at the idea, and she asks, “Not even to save your sister?” which helps him to focus and wiggle until his hands are free as Offa suddenly appears in the room with the witch and Gnomey. Offa Eldritch Blasts the door open, allowing Laserie to enter. Seeing Sikander hanging and appreciating the work, Masako convinces Laserie to fight against the party.
A fight breaks out, Silas and Clover going after Masako while Sikander continues breaking free. Laserie attacks Clover to protect the Witch as Sikander (while Donald Ducking) goes after the Witch and yells at Laserie to apologize to Clover.
Gnomey uses its tentacles to shock Offa with its Death Kiss while Silas sneaks back to Eldritch Blast the Witch and disappear again. Laserie shifts her gaze from Sikander to Silas briefly deciding who to attack when Selle casts Greater Restoration on her and restoring Anya to herself.
Offa is struck again with the Death Strike from Gnomey and the Witch attacks Sikander as she runs from the room. Clover, trying to give Silas better odds at hitting Masako, casts Pass Without Trace.
Anya and Tal (who is overjoyed to have her back) attempt to break the Death Kiss on Offa and Sikander unsuccessfully. Sikander tries to break free while Offa, content to remain, casts Dissonant Whispers at Gnomey and hurts the familiar.
