Session 55: A'flora Merriweather, the best of sisters and assassins
General Summary
The fight continues against the Witch, despite her attempt to convince them she is A’flora, with Selle commanding her to grovel and Silas and Clover attacking her. The others continue dealing with the Death Kiss attacking Sikander, Anya, Tal and Offa, finally dropping it.
Clover goes to remove her tattoo while Silas runs out and up the stairs with Sikander and Selle. Offa remains while Anya and Tal continue after the boys, healing them.
Offa finds scrolls of special parchment, a note to Lord Mirt, tattoo needles, and two vicious daggers. Grabbing these and Sikander’s things, he hobbles up the stairs after the others.
Silas becomes Masako as they run into a junior Cherry Blossom. As he tells them Mirt is in the Undercastle, Silas/Masako steps aside and Sikander swings with Wibbles and takes the man down swiftly. In that time, Offa catches up, allowing Sikander to redress completely and everyone continuing up the stairs.
On the next floor, a couple vampire spawn and a warlock appear and Sikander immediately goes to work with Wibbles. Silas/Masako screams at the vampires to destroy the party then runs halfway up the next set of stairs to watch. Anya pulls the driftglobe out, casting Daylight and Selle Sunbeaming the warlock. Offa blasts the spawn while Sikander and Tal go after the one closest to them. Anya tries to swing on her own, while Silas/Masako continues up the stairs. Anya receives a frantic message from him that A’flora is there and hurt. Swinging on a fleeing vampire, Anya destroys it and starts for the stairs.
Sikander and Tal take work on the other vampire, while the rangers shoot the remaining vampire spawn. Anya shouts at Sikander to hurry it up as A’flora is on the next floor hurt. Offa blasts at the vampire spawn, two slamming into Sikander before hitting her.
Upstairs, Silas is surrounded by bodies and crouching by A'flora, who is badly bloodied. Anya comes up first, with the others close on her heals. She and Selle immediately attempt to heal and spare her to no avail. Sikander kneels, holding her and using his paladin abilities to attempt to rid her of the poison within.
As he holds her, the remember bread from when they were young, then A’flora tells him to save the child Lord Mirt kidnapped, that she tried to stop him, but failed. As he tells her they will bake it together again, she falls still. Selle begins, with Sikander’s permission, to cast Ceremony on her to protect her from becoming undead. As he works, Anya quickly reads a letter she found on A’flora and pulls him aside, finally telling him that A’flora had become a Cherry Blossom to take them down from the inside and that she really worked for the Sands of Oban. She shares A’flora’s task was to protect the child emperor and that she asks us to continue where she failed. As she tells him this, Anya reveals A’flora’s Cherry Blossom tattoo she had hidden with bandages to help keep her secret.
Seeming to accept Anya’s explanation for the moment, Sikander looks to all of them, taking on a barbaric look and they all pledge to help him finish Lord Mirt and finish A’flora’s mission, and steal their souls in Offa’s case.
Anya then gives the ring she found to Sikander, and they quickly realize, with Offa’s help, it belongs to Yoko Ono. It makes him sick to his stomach trying to wear it, so he tucks it away for safe keeping.
Pulling her cloak around his shoulders, he realizes it is much harder for the others to see him and he grins widely, clearly ready for a fight. Clover finds and puts on blue dragon scale armor and Silas takes on Masako’s aspect again before they head upstairs.
As they finished getting ready to head up, Offa opens a box and they find the golem control bracelet, prompting nervous excitement from Anya as she puts it on and has a vision towering over Edo, with monks at her feet and turning her head to see the ocean.
Quickly heading up to the 5th floor, Silas/Masako leads the way, and they find the doll of the old emperor pretending to write calligraphy and beyond the doll, sits Lord Mirt. Silas/Masako and Mirt go back and forth before Mirt tells him to kill one of the group to prove he is the ink witch. At which point, Offa immediately goes invisible.
