Eclipse of Morrslieb - The Long Omen
Morrslieb is the green moon, and the dark twin of Akarat (The Amber Moon). It has an erratic cycle, unpredictably appearing smaller or larger in the sky. In times of disaster, some claim to see a mocking, twisted face appear on its surface. Morrslieb heralds great misfortune when it appears close.
Morrslieb is also known by other names around the world: The Dark Moon, the Chaos Moon (particularly by Elves), and The Green Moon (by Goblinoids).
A popular legend tells of a gateway in the sky through which daemons emerged to prey on people. The ancient and powerful Archwizard Morr destroyed this gate and created Morrslieb so that mortals would never forget that he had saved them from a fate worse than death.
The Eclipse
With Morrslieb's erratic behavior, the eclipse happens at random intervals. Sometimes occurring twice a year, or twice a century. When Morrslieb is the only moon in the sky, the sky and the earth take on an ominous sickly green tint. Many claim that during these events, dark and ruinous powers stir and are granted additional strength. It is said that during one of Morrslieb's Eclipses that the Dragon Imrys was able to complete his ritual and become the Darkheart, the most powerful Dracolich to curse Korrisia. It's also said that when Vecna and Kas destroyed each other in mortal combat, Morrslieb hung alone in the sky, blocking out its twin, Akarat.Manifestation
The entire sky, earth, water, everything takes on a sickly green hue. Fire burns sickly green, spells have a dark and malicious feeling to them. Spirits stir, and many claim to be haunted by long-dead ancestors, or recently deceased souls that hold evil intent.
Localization
In the realm of Alithanar, the Silver Tower always nears the maximum strain it can take on its form. Many believe and speculate that during the Eclipse, the forces of evil fight and push with all of their might to break through the Veil that the Silver Tower creates, hoping to corrupt and destroy Korrisia.
