Kingdom of Drang
The Kingdom of Drang, known as the Fallen Kingdom, is a former world superpower and now decrepit and decaying realm within Korrisia. West of Keoland, Drang stood as a bastion of unity and strength among the other "human" kingdoms until it collapsed from within.
Founded hundreds of years before the Battle of Alvendar, the Kingdom of Drang was created after a brave warlord, Zhendul Khalimar, who pushed out the rabid Orc hordes that ruled the landscape prior. Khalimar founded the City of Drangel, and constructed a great Throne in which he imbued with immense arcane power. The City-State, even in its infancy stood as a bastion of nobility and honor, Zhendul Khalimar urged his people to live and work honorably, that each citizen could earn their place in the city, and that all citizens could have one.
Drang would come under its first true test when the Orcs, pushed into the underdark would unite under Durgash, the Black Axe, a powerful and dangerous Orc Warlord, hoping to become the first Orc emperor. The Orcish hordes would burn Drang and arrive at the gates of Drangel, in their greatest moment of need, their king would not abandon them. King Zhendul, never wishing to reveal his true form, became Khal'Druk, the Radiant Scale, one of the most powerful Gold Dragons to live. After forcing the Orcish hordes back, and destroying Durgash, Zhendul returned to his people expecting to be shunned, but was met with open arms and endless love. King Zhendul returned to his throne, and ruled for many centuries.
Drang would expand to take the entire Western half of the Southern Continent and would sport two major cities and many small villages, bringing refugees and immigrants from all across Korrisia. One woman would arrive that would catch the noble king's eye, Namylarah, a mysterious and awestriking beauty who claimed to come from a distant land. In just a short time, Zhendul and Namylarah would marry, and lead the kingdom further into prosperity. Namylarah would be the inspiring force behind Zhendul Khalimar's greatest conquest, he would lead his vast armies not East to Keoland, but from the Material Plane into the Shadowfell, to free those under the cruel thumb of Lord Maw, the Dark Duke of the Shadowfell.
Zhendul's invasion was swift and vicious, Lord Maw's endless hordes were forced back, and the Drang forces took much land and treasures, many cosmically powerful magics were discovered and returned to Drang, sending it rocketing into a Golden Age. With the King and Queen back on the throne, and the threats of the Shadowfell seemingly quashed, Drang was in pure prosperity.
The Kingdom would again come under attack when Lord Maw, reeling from his recent defeats, would launch one of the greatest Shadowfell incursions to date, setting the entirety of Drang ablaze, murdering countless innocents. Lord Maw and Khal'Druk would engage in single-combat, their blows shattering entire city blocks of Drang, eventually, Khal'Druk was horridly wounded, and if it weren't for the efforts of his only son, Prince Zhendar, he would have faded. Lord Maw decapitated Zhendar in front of his father, his line shattered, Khal'Druk cast the greatest of spells, he wished. Lord Maw was vaporized on the spot, and his armies were cast back into the Shadowfell. For Zhendul, it was too late, he had been driven to madness from the death of his son and from the burning of his Kingdom. Namylarah offered no support or counsel. The Kingdom's endless magical resources were destroyed, all of the wonders they had crafted were smashed to pieces. The only major aspect of arcane power was Zhendul's throne, the Throne of Fate, which Zhendul locked away, forever out of reach of Namylarah.
It is said Zhendul faded away on his throne, with no will to live or to fight on after his son's death. Namylarah is the reigning power of the Kingdom, but its cities are barely that, mostly ruins. The only things that remain are that Drang still has a sizeable standing army, and it's believed that Namylarah has intent to conquer and destroy Keoland, stealing their wealth and artifacts to rebuild the falling Kingdom, but also to utilize the vast knowledge of Keoland's magic colleges to breach the protective forces stopping her from gaining the Throne of Fate, and having the ability to weave reality at her whim.
