The Diluvian World
Several islands chains sprinkle the Horizon Ocean, and they are collectively known as the Horizon Isles, the Horizons, or the Diluvian World.
The greatest of the Horizons, Mainland Kosai, is more of a small continent than an island. By far the largest of the Horizons, Kosai was once the seat of the world-dominating Silver Empire. The island of Kosai is dominated by the Dragonsback Mountains, ranging the island from north to south. The East Coast, known as Yogozai for the ethnic group that dominates it, ranges from tropical and temperate in the south to temperate forests and taiga in the north. The northwest coast, known as Jadewater or the Hexi Coast, is known for its thick, coastal forests and marshes, and is much warmer than it's latitude would suggest. The Central West is known for the balmy Ichei River Valley, and the two desert plateaus (Karag Plateau to the north and Jeon Wastes to the south) that box it in. The southwest, generally known as Salaece, has wide plains and semi-tropical forests. The mainland also has an isolated, tropical peninsula to its south, known as Sorutai.
Kosai is also surrounded by several notable islands. The island of Norponte lies only 10s of kilometers off of Kosai's northernmost point. The northern side, Cismire Norponte, consists of large mountains, taiga, and tundra. The Island's central-southern portion is dominated by a lowland marsh, only 4 meters above sea level at its highest. The Trenchmire, as it is known, dominates about 40% of the island's landmass. The opposite side of the Trenchmire also has higher elevation, but due to the difficulty in crossing on land, Transmire Norponte is effectively its own island. South of Norponte is Testukai, an island dominated by industrial sprawl from the time of the Silver Empire, largely reclaimed by nature since the empire's fall. On the island's southwest is the Raikusland, an archipelago often lumped together with Salaece. Finally, the Isle of Bastion sits far off of Kosai's west coast. It is a temperate island known for it's massive strangemetal arch, upon which its largest city lies.
Distant from Kosai but still in the Horizon Ocean, two other island collections lie: the Daelin and Ebrin. The Daelic ilses are far to Kosai's west, much closer to the equator. Acrosia is the largest of the Daelics, and is largely temperate. Grimoia, the northernmost, is forested and cold due to its high elevation. While the Daelics are dominated by two large islands with many smaller ones, the Ebric Archipelago consists of many small islands, none much larger than the others. Berk, Beshem, and Vildny are the most populated of the Ebric islands. Each of the Ebrics is cold and forested.
