Session 12 - Kory No Mour

General Summary

We receive the most threatening wake-up call of all time, seven armored and armed Vassic soldiers are hammering on our doors and demanding we answer for the crime of climbing the mountain without permission. We fight and win! We escape out the window, we’re planning to head to a gate. We meet Eussorus who was questioned by Doreus, a captain or general in the Vassic Army who is after us. He tried to cover for us but they didn’t believe him. He’s a good turt. We head for the gate and Kestor manages to magically talk his way past the guards, allowing the party to escape. We decide to hoof it as fast as we can through the blizzard to Istodraka to get ahead of the army and to seek shelter from Amelia and Amelius of the Audaxid. We will then try to reach the port of Yivas and take off.   We reach Istodraka and the manor. Rhoecus is here! He’s happy to see us, we saved his father who is on the mend. He invites us in, we tell him the whole story, and he agrees to let us rest at his manor and not to snitch on us. We get to rest! In the morning, Ionessa talks with Rhoecus. She tells him our plan to find a fragment of a God, and discuss their differing perspectives as they come from such different places. Kestor and Xanthos have a conversation about the morality of their disobeying the law and evading Vas, as well as the difficulties of prophecy and fate.   We decide to head out the following night to try to get the jump on any ships that haven’t been chartered out of Yivas, we’re hoping we can find the Evlogimenos. Rhoecus offers to take us to the port in his cart, we can hide under a tarp in case they are already looking for us. We reach the city and luckily we’re not searched. We say our farewells to Rhoecus, he hopes to get to know Ionessa better and climb that mountain someday! Kestor does a degenerate laugh, AND PEARL COPIES IT!!!   We ask around about the Evlogimenos and find that it’s SAILING AWAY RIGHT NOW! Ionessa swims out into the ocean at Mach 1 and catches up with the ship; she convinces them to turn around and pick us back up! Our payment is still up in the air, but Kestor sings them a bad but uplifting song that raises their spirits. We’re reunited with the statues of Isadora, Eryxo, and Thales. We set off, and have a conversation with Isadora. She is thinking of renaming herself as she does not identify with the historical figure at all. We offer to help her pick a name on the trip!   Ionessa goes to talk to Xanthos, as is tradition. He’s working on his plans for Sideris! He’s thinking about what to keep the same, what to change. The trees there are special, they make excellent boats. He was seven when it all went to hell. The town was burned down, and he was almost burned along with it. Xanthos’ uncle made a deal with a devil, he hurt a lot of people and a champion of Kaiotim came to bring justice to him. The champion started a fire because anything the town had gained at that point was ill gains from the devil, and so it had to go. Ionessa thinks the champion doesn’t seem like a very nice person.   No townspeople were hurt except for Xanthos, who wasn’t supposed to be where he was; he was looking for his uncle. The champion was distracted trying to save him, and the devil got away. He did not like the champion initially but has come to believe she was making the right decisions. Her name is Phaedra, she raised him and taught him the ways of Kaiotim. Ionessa is looking forward to meeting her. Xanthos hadn’t considered that meeting. Ionessa asks if it’s okay to break a promise; Xanthos believes the ends justify the means so long as innocents are not harmed. But what is an innocent? There are no easy answers.   Ionessa abandoned her captain to avoid being locked up, to betray him by breaking her promise and disturbing the shard of Fytanke seems cruel. He’s innocent as well. He was arrested because of Ionessa’s actions when she hid the shard. Xanthos suggests that we should go break her old captain out of jail! JAILBREAK ARC JAILBREAK ARC! Ionessa is hesitant to get us all into trouble but we’re a d&d adventuring party goddamnit! They hug, end scene.
