Red Eyes

Written by Kaidus_.
Red eyes.   That’s all they were. Red eyes. As still as the statue of King Hansen that sat at Josai’s center. Yet these eyes, they were alive. They held malice and evil in them. They glowed, watching Elytra from her window as she laid on her bed in the precise center of the room. She cried silently. She knew they wouldn’t move. She knew they wouldn’t come closer to the institution. She knew they wouldn’t hurt her. They never did. They never acted. But she was scared. The eyes pressured her in a way she had never felt before. Elytra felt their menacing presence even when she closed her eyes. She felt them invade her dreams and watch her until dawn arrived. She felt herself grow in hatred of this unknown being that disappeared during the day and popped back into existence as night settled. She hated this thing that teasingly watched her as she lay, vulnerable. Despite being unmoving, emotionless eyes, they were evil.   Of course, a part of her felt a little silly. Crying there, scared of two little dots that were far, far away from where she laid, when she had been seeing them for two months already. They could be anything. She thought of what Darron would do in her place. Probably open the window, jump out and try to catch the eyes. He would never waver. Or Theodore, who would come to some conclusion of the reason to their existence and soon forget about them. His mind had better things to do on his journey to dreamland. Both, so quick to decide what they would do when facing the red eyes. But what would she do?   Elytra sat up, facing away from her window. She wiped the tears that streamed down her face, and she opened her eyes. Her reflection stared back at her, as she peered into her mirror. She gazed into her reflection, who’s face wore such a distressed look. Then she noticed the red eyes, so tiny compared to her, like little baby fairies. Elytra turned away from her mirror and faced the red eyes. She stood up from her bed. As she walked to her window, she felt her heart beat faster, and her breathing shallow out. She was panicking, and the red eyes were opening her, staring at her naked. Yet she continued. She thought of how her two friends would face the problem their way. It was her turn, and she wasn’t about to back out. She opened her window. The red eyes glared back at her, screaming at her soul now. The rage in them called out. Yet Elytra glared back at them. She glared at those tiny red eyes, which stood still every night. She calmed herself and slowed her breathing pace. Now, the red eyes were only watching. No more screaming. She continued to stare into them. Suddenly, there was nothing. The red eyes disappeared. The night was still, and finally restful. She let out a breath, and she smiled.

This was me testing out my writing abilities with Elytra. I attempted to keep the writing style very emotional, describe things how Elytra would feel them.
