Burnout
Hello, I'm Abby! Your guide at Krap Inc.
You've been with us for some time now. Your evaluation up to this point has been satisfactory. You are a good employee, and the company needs you to stay productive.
That's why today you'll get trainining on how to avoid burnout. A condition that some irresponsible employees had caught in the past. Most of them have recovered successfully, the ones that didn't go through the termination process.PROGRAM ERROR. Of their contract.
Stay away from grumpy coworkers
When you notice one or several of these behaviours in your coworkers, you must let your superiors know immediately:
- The employee doesn't have their camera on during online meetings.
- The employee doesn't laugh at their superior jokes during meetings.
- The employee arrives late to the office.
- The employee leaves their office before their superior.
- The employee claims not caring about the results of the last social media campaign.
Prolongated exposure to this type of attitude will put you at risk of contracting burnout. Never forget you are legally obligated to do everything in your power to avoid this disease.
Tip to avoid burnout
You are allowed one minute before starting your daily tasks to recite out loud or for yourself your favourite Krap Inc achievements, and how you contribute to them. It's a great motivator!
Remember: Productivity is happiness
If you failed to recognize this disease in your coworkers and got exposed, it's possible you start to replicate them but also there are other signs you may see in yourself:
- Bad sleep
- Too many trips to the coffee machine
- Lack of joy at the prospect of profit
- Unanswered e-mails
Worry not! Human resources have qualified professionals to treat this condition. You must inform us before is too late, and we'll give you a proven treatment that will cure you and restore you to your full potential in a very short time.
We are here for you
After you've been cured, an HR agent will check your well-being to make sure you have recovered completely and you are avoiding relapses. This visit will be scheduled at the HR convenience and could be at your home, or other places you frequent without previous notice. We care about you not only during office hours. That's how much we care about you.
Profit will keep you happy
There are no known sequelae for this condition. While if you had it, it will leave a mark on your profile, it won't be a problem if you aspire to get a promotion. Of course, you'll have to prove yourself worthy with extra hours in the office for the honour of achieving a higher rank in the company.
I want you to leave this training today with the certainty that if you inform us of your burnout in the early stages we can guarantee you that it's possible to overcome it. You can go back to being a model employee, happy of working every day for the rest of their life to get the maximum profit for the company.
A message from the Board of Directors
If everything fails, at least we can assure you that even after you depart from the company, a part of you will always be with us.

Burnout is considered a great danger.
Your family, friends and partners will avoid your presence when they notice the symptoms.
They can't afford to jeopardize their performance in their respective careers.
If you want to see them again, you better recover quickly.
Juniors and seniors employees are prone to contagion.
PMs and above acquire immunity with promotion.
You want to know how we treat burnout?
I'm not programmed to answer that question. Further inquiries on this topic will harm your chances for promotion. Desist now.
Amazing, but also horrible. Treating burnout as a literal contagious disease is so clever and creative that it might be the only reason why some corps have not done it before. The "We are here for you" section is terrifying! Considering how some jobs send you a person to look how you live before hiring you, this wouldn't surprise me in the least. If you want to have a look, I featured the Burnout condition in my Reading Challenge this year :)
