The Wee Ones

Small dolls sit atop the shelves and windowsills in most homes within the small village of Lorville. Young and old alike find these little dolls charming, their humorously exaggerated shocked expressions bringing laughter to those that look at them. Because of their size, roughly the width of a hand, they are commonly put to use as paperweights and decoration. Though some children keep them as toys, including these little dolls with their play and adventures.
No one has yet realized that they are a sentient race, originating from cracks and narrows within the Underdark. During their great migration, many of these hid themselves on the Wolf-Spiders that were ridden by the Dark Elves, clinging to the fur on their legs as they traveled up to raid and pillage. Once they surfaced they ran in the opposite direction of their transportation, fleeing southbound. After several days of travel their scouts decided to risk resting in a small village, Lorville, for the night. That morning they were caught by the light haired giants, and so froze, hoping that they would leave them alone. However, those who snatched them took them into the impenetrable fortress like buildings, unlike anything that they had ever seen before. Still pretending to be dead, they were placed in strange areas.
Those that first discovered these 'dolls', mostly children, were eager to show them to their parents. It was taken as a sign from the Divine, a miracle from the god of mirth for these people who had suffered under the heel of the oppressor for years. An entire week passed after the first dolls were discovered, and each morning many more dolls were found. There were many dressed like little soldiers, some with armor that looked like it was made of beetles and some of pill-bugs, with little stinging weapons. Small princesses in flowing web dresses were surrounded by little folk in simple clothes. On the last day two little kings, and two queens were discovered. After the eighth day there were no more to be found.
The Wee Ones and their kingdom was now found within the overland, where they rule over the shelves, and within cupboards. Despite the change, and the fear that they have of the Giants, things have gotten far better for them. They feed upon insects caught within the webs and traps that they have designed, and are generally well cared for by the Giants.
