Basic Information

Anatomy

Made of pure aether crystals, their shape is perfectly smooth with little spikes of Aether that simulate hairs on the arms and shoulder top, and long aether tendrils on the head that imitate hair. They are shaped like a perfectly dimensioned human but of very high stature.

Biological Traits

The Athrians of the aether, named Calyster, are very rare, one birth in ten thousand (no more than a hundred recorded since the fall), they are pure beings, who at the time of the fall disappeared split in two between Eriathril and Elkraam. Their personality is close to that of the Eriathril during childhood, and then as they grow older, it becomes closer to that of the Enumbris. Calysters differ from natural elementals in their pure, almost spectral shape, smooth as wooden mannequins, and an aura of Aether of a colour that matches their personality. Their hair always has the same colour as their aura and their eyes can sometimes split into two colours making up the aura colour (red and green for a yellow aura).

Facial characteristics

Like all Athrian, they face would only have lipless mouth and eyes without lashes or lid, but with even more extreme smoothness of the face.

On a theoretical basis, Calyster would be of infinite intelligence, assuming he receives proper knowledge from valid sources.

They have perfect sense of every layer of the reality: sight (even at night), hearing, heat, magic, soul, time, electric and magnetism, they are aware of any change in the reality in any way possible.

Common Dress Code

It is hard to know how would Calyster would like to actually dress in the world of Kray-Maven. The only known Calyster in Meridia is Quarhnia Onirem, who coincidentally became a seamstress. She loves wearing Akereses traditional clothes, but often wear simple coloured Aether clothes, no real clothes (which is actually impossible for her).

History

Calyster lived in the Highest sphere of Athria: The aether circle. The Aether circle was made up of many islands of solid ether, stacked in layers, and filled with crystal formations that could take on various rather classical forms or form magnificent trees and other floral structures. The fact that the calysters could manipulate the ether allowed them to create great architectural masterpieces, perfectly ingrained in this idyllic world; in a smooth and sculpted style, with special attention to symmetry and geometry. The only difference between the Calysters of Athria and the present ones is the tangibility. Their powers consist in manipulating the ether as they wish, giving it the shape they want, even that of a solid weapon, and they can add elementary effects to it. They also have the power to dominate people's minds individually by physical or telepathic contact, and to manipulate bodies en masse by weaving a thread of ether into inanimate, or living, bodies. But the most powerful is the transformation of another Athrian into a servile puppet, by substituting their heart. The ethereal power of calysters is found in eriathril and enumbris in a weakened way. For example, they are very limited in their ability to sculpt ether in various forms, especially as a weapon. The power of domination, however, has been split in two, with the loss of the heart replacement, but in return a more powerful power of domination over non-Athrians. Most Calysters follow the path of balance, the good and the bad are very difficult to identify outside of combat. The real difference is in the choice of powers. One will prefer to outwit his opponent with weapons and the manipulation of time, the other will not hesitate to dominate weak minds and the dead.

Historical Figures

Karth Estrada, founder of the Athian alliance, and considered a god. Quarhnia Onirem, his successor, the last pearl of Calyster. Spiridia Onirem the oneiric god, considered to be an avatar of Polaris.

Common Myths and Legends

Calyster are presupposed to be made of dreams, the closest to the pure power of dreams, and that all the ancient Calysters, that lived before the fall, are now part of Polaris.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Calyster were extremely neutral, seeing their absolute law of balance. However, the only known Calyster is of the purest kindness and always put high esteem on all the living races of this world, even the legendary hatred Shalzak.
