Nereid

Basic Information

Anatomy

Nereid resembles both human and elves, but with the particularity of a very smooth skin with furrows, allowing for better movement in water.

Biological Traits

Nereid has very close traits with humans and elves, with very smooth and thin traits, where male are more muscular and squared.

Genetics and Reproduction

They have the same cycle as other Elnumels, but to that difference that they adopted the custom to birth in water.

Growth Rate & Stages

The furrows start to appear around puberty. the rest is common to other Elnumels

Ecology and Habitats

They are adapted to live on shores, on islands of the south, regularly alternating between ground and water.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Due to their location, Nereid tend to have a diet mostly turned around fishes and other product of the ocean.

Biological Cycle

When getting older, their skin become less adapted to water, and nothing can make difference between old Nereid and old half-elf.

Social Structure

They live in small villages around a chief, and everyone look for eachother.

Facial characteristics

Extremely smooth, not any facial hair, even their nose are more flat. Ears really discreet.

Most of them live half nude, with just pareo or long skirts, for some special days they put very colourful

They have the culture of honouring the sea, and have a strange custom around whales, using oil and bones in rituals for premonitions and other beliefs.

They Revere Whales, once par years they go on a hunt and kill a dozen, take their bones to sculpt charms, use the ribs to carves predictions and tombstones for the dream-dancers.

All about the rituals around whales. The existence of Krakens, giant crabs with tentacles and spiky shell.

History

Historically Nereids are what is genetically closer to the ancestral Enlumel, at least said the dwarves. They stayed in the same tribal system for as long as we know, and even today they are still staying simple, except for La'han, where they accepted to put machines for linen culture. (They keep cotton and sugar cane manual)
