Reality
The People of Old in Krea didn't use the word "reality" in the way we do– as a simple descriptor of what's "real." Instead, Reality, with a capital "R," is a proper noun, a concept almost as grand and ancient as the universe itself. It's not a deity in the traditional sense, lacking a physical form or a yearning for worship. Instead, think of it as the code that dictates the universe's operation. It's the grand architect laying down the laws of cause and effect, the very foundation upon which everything exists.
Within this framework, Reality prioritizes certain aspects over others. Every pebble on the path, every fluttering leaf, exists in a state dictated by its hand. Importance plays a crucial role. Reality guards fundamental laws more fiercely than ephemeral details. The fundamental laws, gravity keeping you grounded, the memories people have in their head, are deeply ingrained and resistant to manipulation. Wielding the Words of Power, however, offers a chance to bend these rules, albeit with varying degrees of difficulty. Persuading Reality to alter the course of a raging river might be easier than convincing it to defy gravity altogether.
Words of Power are not mere incantations, but utterances that resonate with the very essence of Reality. Spoken with the right intent and understanding, they can bend the established rules, manipulate causes and effects, or even alter the state of being for an object or creature. It's not a walk in the park, though. Reality doesn't take kindly to tampering with its current coding. It might push back, test the user's will, or make the manipulation incredibly difficult. But if the user persists, and the Words of Power are strong enough, Reality will eventually relent. Once the alteration is woven in, it becomes part of the fabric– unless, of course, someone uses opposing Words of Power to revert or change it further. Reality on its own, however, can't rewrite its own rules.
The beauty of Words of Power lies in their accessibility. Unlike magic systems that require immense reserves of energy or years of honed skill, all you need is the knowledge itself. The correct sequence of words, spoken with the right intent and understanding, can resonate with the fabric of Reality and enact change. This democratizes power in a way, making it available to anyone with the capacity to learn and pronounce the ancient tongue. However, the potential consequences of wielding such power should never be underestimated.
