Vanish (vahn-ish)

Vanish is a unique metal found within specific rocks beneath the ocean's surface. This precious metal possesses remarkable properties, making it highly sought after for various purposes.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Vanish, in its natural state, appears as a dull, silver-white metallic rock among the pebbles lining the ocean shallows. When gathered and processed, it transforms into a lustrous, shimmering thread with a slight iridescent sheen and takes on a silk-like appearance. Vanish is incredibly lightweight, even when woven into fabric. This makes it ideal for garments that require both comfort and ease of movement. Despite its metallic origin, Vanish is surprisingly soft to the touch, rivaling the finest silks and velvets.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Vanish boasts exceptional durability, resistant to tearing and abrasion. Notably, vanish possesses a remarkable resistance to physical attacks. This property makes vanish-woven garments ideal for warriors and adventurers, offering superior protection from cuts, tears, and abrasions. Vanish is also highly malleable, allowing it to be easily woven into intricate designs. Vanish can be woven into other fabrics and threads or blended with other materials like wool, cotton, or even leather to create unique textiles with varying properties, adding its unique properties and enhancing the overall quality of the final product. Garments made with vanish are resistant to wear and tear, ensuring they remain beautiful and functional for generations.

Origin & Source

Obtaining Vanish is a easy but tedious endeavor. The metallic rocks can mostly be found along the shoreline and shallows of the ocean, though have been known to make their way into rivers from the current.   Vanish is made of the shells of dead micro-organisms in the ocean that are processed by the current, much like how pearls are crafted by Apail. These dead micro-organisms are crushed together and condensed to form this organic metal, and smoothed by the ocean currents, which in turn deposite it along the shoreline.   Occasionally Vanish can be found in deeper waters, but most people will not take the risk and wait to collect that which makes it to the shallows.

History & Usage

Everyday use

Vanish is primarily used in the creation of clothing. Due to its luxurious texture, unparalleled durability, malleability, and resistance to physical damage, vanish is a highly sought-after material for skilled artisans to create stunning and breathtaking garments, pushing the boundaries of fashion and artistry. Vanish's protective qualities make it ideal for crafting armor and clothing for warriors, adventurers, and explorers. Its lightweight nature and comfort ensure optimal performance and freedom of movement, while its exceptional durability provides vital protection during combat and hazardous journeys.   Not as commonly, vanish is also used in the creation of various art forms such as decoration, jewelry, and even sculptures.
