Aeon Scale

A silvery reptile scale, diamond-shaped and about a hand-span long. It seems to reflect light unnaturally, as if at an odd angle from the source.
Possessing a strong and powerful curse, the Scale infects any mortal creatures around it and infests anyone that touches it, subsuming their will and eventually taking over their body totally.
These scales are hunted ferociously by the Dragonborn of The @Spine of the World as they fear the power of devastation of the scales if left un-checked. Based on their tellings, these scales are like plague ships sailing on the waves of time until they land and cause far-reaching cataclysms by spinning unfortunate events out of happenstance into the most destructive coincidences possible.
