Green Maw
A large and thick jungle, spanning from the Iron Plains to The Spine of the World and bordering the Orion Plateau to the north and the United Cities to the south.
Hiding numerous ruins and ancient temples, the Green Maw is also said to be home to the Ancient City of Ferro, though the mythological city has never been found despite numerous expeditions.
Ecosystem
The Green Maw is known to have some of the most difficult passable terrain in the world, with massive trees and thick underbrush creating difficulties for even the most hardy adventurers and the Iron Empire’s engineer corps.
The vegetation grows at an almost determined pace, reclaiming cleared land in only a matter of days.
Throughout the jungle are massive swamps and wetlands, some of them spanning hundreds of miles and creating even further difficulties of traversal.
Fauna & Flora
Home to some of the most varied animal and plant species on the continent, the Green Maw is separated into three climates for purposes of animal and plant classification:
Forest: Home to traditional light timber and typical fauna like deer, wolves, boar, and squirrels.
Jungle: Massive trees and thick underbrush populated with large insects, arboreal mammals, and dinosaurs.
Swamp: Mangroves and water-based plants play home to amphibians, water birds, fish, and predatory reptiles.
