Pride Before the Fall

Krynn was once a land where God's freely interacted with their own creations. All things here were at peace to grow and explore the mortal realm in harmony. After a time, hubris and greed led to a rift between God and creation. In their attempt to steal their own godhood, a "kingpriest" of Istar angered the Gods, ignored their warnings, and brought upon the world The Cataclysm. It is at with this destructive reckoning that the Gods left Krynn, refusing to engage with mortals lest they risk letting slip the secrets of their power.

Ansalon

Within the world of Krynn is the continent of Ansalon. Of all of the places the Gods once loved, Ansalon was their favorite. It was the birthplace of many creations and developed into a flourishing home. This is where the Istarian Empire was birthed and where it conquered. Eventually this was also where The Cataclysm would hit the hardest. Metropolitan hubs of technology, magic, and knowledge were decimated, their mysteries fading like the Gods who once curated them.
Today, Ansalon is in a state of rebuilding. It's castles and towns, a mere shadows of their former glory. Still, those living persist; both in the hopes of establishing peace and also in proving their worth to the Gods so that perhaps one day they may return...
