My name is Arturus and I come from a minor gentry family in Solamnia along with my younger brother Maloram, or Mal. We may not have had much wealth, but we did own a farm northeast of the bustling city of Maelgoth. Growing up, I often dreamed of becoming a part of the legendary Knights of Solamnia, who protected our land from all threats.
When I was just a young boy, thanks to the recommendation of Ispin Greenshield, an old friend of my father's from his youth, I was sent to serve as a page to none other than Sir Gaspard, a Knight of the Sword. He was a fierce and respected warrior, known throughout the realm for his bravery and skill in battle. Under his tutelage, I trained hard and learned all the skills a squire should know, such as horseback riding, sword fighting, and chivalrous behavior.
Sir Gaspard was not just a mentor to me, but also another father figure, and I was honored to have served him. He taught me everything he knew about being a knight, and I followed him to many battles and skirmishes.
Recently, I was raised to the rank of squire due to my actions during a battle against a band of ruthless bandits who were terrorizing the countryside. I was able to save Sir Gaspard's life and that of several innocents in the heat of the battle, and for that, he recommended me to be raised as a squire. I may not have come from a wealthy or well-known family, but I am determined to prove myself as a brave and honorable knight of Solamnia, just like Sir Gaspard.
Recently, Sir Gaspard asked me to set out on my own like the knight errants of old. Before that could happen though, Mal and I received word that Ispin Greenshield had passed. So, we set off to honor him one last time for ourselves and our parents.
