Ferry of the Utter Night Feast

In these final days of the mortal world, summer days stretch out for what seems like days, while winter nights close in over the city for what feels like oppressive weeks. The longest dark period of the year, Utter Night, hides the sun from Kunrai's people for seven days and marks the end of the old year and the beginning of the new. While monsters, both mortal and otherwise, stalk Kunrai's streets during this gloomy period, there is one bright spark of joy.   Unannounced, the Barge of the Utter Night Feast appears in the sea leans that run through Kunai's lower levels. Laden with food and drink, the Barge has no pilot and yet still manages to navigate the lanes without mishap. The vessel will stop at each and every ferry dock along its course, allowing hungry passengers to embark, and the sated to stumble off the Barge and back into the seemingly endless night.   At any given time the Barge can hold three dozen revelers. Legend says that no one aboard the boat is ever harmed, and that all lucky enough to enjoy a voyage spend the rest of Utter Night in a euphoric haze. Passengers who eat and drink their fill need not fill their bellies again until Utter Night has ended, at which time they will find the pleasant spell dissipates and leaves them none the worse for wear.   Some claim the Barge is the work of Lady Loriosi, the lost goddess of hospitality and good fortune. Others insist it is a penance paid by the Screaming Lich for the annihilation of the Choking Stones community during the Fracture War a century past. The truth is no one knows where the Barge of the Utter Night Feast comes from, or where it goes when the feast ends. The few souls who have been on the Barge when dawn rises at the end of Utter Night recall falling into a deep and dreamless sleep as the first rays of a new sun began to rise. When they came to, they were on the docks near their homes.
