Marsh Region

The marshlands or the 'Marsh Region' as most call it, is not really a kingdom as it is the tribal territory of the Lizard folk. Thousands of years ago this large delta transformed into the largest wetlands of the known world, which became home to the Lizard Folk which is the largest and the ‘ruling’ group here. You will also find tribes of Bullywugs, Yuan-ti, some Fey and small tribes of Tortle here.   Most of the residents here are primitive and tribal either by nature or by choice. Lizard folk have become expectational at stonework, having built stone temples, shrines and even a few pyramids in the deep bog. Metal is not common so most building materials, weapons and the like are constructed from leather, stone, wood or a mixture of the three. Stone weapons here can sometimes be sharper than metal weapons. A few of the tribes even build their villages in the treetops and inside the trees.   It's never a simple matter of entering the marsh, due to the residents being so deadly and the tribes here being highly unpredictable. Some brave adventurers will travel here trading or gathering herbs and plants as they are very valuable on the herb market. If one can make peace and enter some of the villages unharmed, there are many opportunities, including acquiring some of the best bone carvings in the lands, razor sharp stone weapons and other sought after tribal made items.   Being primitive, quick tempered and prone to violence the tribes don’t have any political weight. A truce treaty was signed a long time ago with the Lizard Elders which is still somewhat observed today. Unfortunately, with the marsh region being so rich in herbs and healing plants, it was only a matter of time before the Empire claimed this area.   At the moment there are rumors going around about the marsh being invaded by some sort of infestation, spreading sickness, disease, and harboring fear to those that reside near the marsh. Rumors of swarms of flesh-eating insects, a sickness that turns the skin black in color while bleeding from the eyes, and there is also talk of some unnatural event occurring in the deepest, darkest part of the marsh.   The Empire has issued a stern warning to all, do not enter the marsh and burn all bodies that have been to the marsh in recent times. Whatever is going on in the marsh, it does appear to have the Empire nervous. Obeying the law of the Empire, all adventurers and explorers should stay away from this area until the Empire deems it safe to enter.
