Duke Johann
Duke Johann is acting Duke of Timber's Bend and the surrounding region while his brother, Duke Rykard is out west, serving at The First Bulwark against the armies of the undead. In an effort to gather the wealth necessary to prevent Rykard from returning to take his throne, Johann has taxed the people of Timber's Bend and the surrounding area nearly to starvation, and he has placed many mercenary bands on retainer as his guards and standing army.
He treats any unfortunate enough not to be able to pay his exorbitant taxes as criminals, and many are put into debtor's prison, and strongly encouraged to find means to gather wealth, though their remains little freeflowing money in the area of Timber's Bend.
