Baroness

Baroness is the lowest of the hereditary titles of the Empire of Kyrnia and other feudal states of the middle lands granted to females. The hereditary part of the title is actually associated with the land grant that usually comes with the title. So the title is actually passed with the land. Someone with the title of Baroness, is referred to as "Lady" or "Baroness". The spouse of a baroness is granted the honorific of "Lord". The male equivalent of Baroness is Baron 
There are some people given the rank without any land. These "court" baronesses are often awards for service to the granter, and since there is no land associated with it, then the spouse does not get the corresponding honorific, and the title does not pass down to the next of kin.
