Pistachio Deadnettle
A poisonous plant found in the Morass of Dorghulal. It is one of only a few deadly plants that is harvested for food by the people of Nedev. Because of its deadly nature, the town restricts its harvesting and import to only a few trusted citizens who have been granted warrants by the Baron.
Basic Information
Anatomy
This three foot tall bush has dark green, heart-shaped leaves, that form in groups of three on a stem. On each of these stems, a bright pink flower blooms in early spring, and grows for about a month before whithering and dropping off leaving a small orange fruit in its place. This fruit will continue to grow and can reach the size of a hen's egg.
Both the plant and the fruit are poisonous and consumption of either will cause a death within a few days. The early signs of the poisoning include diarrhea, follwed by hallucinations and then death, usually within three days. While some magic has been know to save the poisoned person, there is no known antidote.
Some people who have died from plant have ahd hallucinations that have turned out to be prophetic, and there are rumors that the fruit is often given to prisoners who are to be put to death, so that their hallicinations can be recorded and examined.

Uses, Products & Exploitation
The seed of the fruit can be used as a pistatio flavoring in cooking. In orger to use the seed must be carefully removed from the fruit, washed clean and then roasted over high heat until the shell cracks. The nut meat inside can then be harvested and is usually ground into a flour or mixed with water to form a paste.
