High Aristor
The High Aristor is a supreme magic wielder. Master of a multitude of schools of magic and answering to no one, they are feared. The High Aristor is the embodiment of judgement and power within the Tellefan Empire.
Qualifications
There are two requirements that must be met to be considered for the candidacy of High Aristor. First, the candidate must be an accomplished mage or capable of using magic. Secondly, they must also not be part of any of the ruling council houses. One generation removed from being affiliated with a council house is acceptable.
Requirements
It is required that High Aristors be of the Tellefan race.
Appointment
The High Aristor can only be appointed by the ruling Council of Eight with a vote of seven or eight in favor. Immediately following a successful vote, the High Aristor will undergo the Volor ceremony.
Duties
The duty of the High Aristor is to better the empire by any means. Sometimes this can include judging how the Council of Eight should act upon important state matters when in a stalemate vote, to leading armies against powerful enemies, and most importantly seeking out traitors and conspirators that threaten the empire.
Responsibilities
When not pursuing a specific task, such as leading an army or pursuing a traitor, the High Aristor will spend their time in the capital. Attending council sessions is not mandatory, but is generally expected. Spending time sniffing out political intrigue and preventing it from becoming upheaval is how the High Aristor will spend most of their time.
Accoutrements & Equipment
The Ring of I'alwe is bestowed and bound to the High Aristor in the Volor ceremony.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
Death. Only death. In the highly unlikely event that a High Aristor goes missing and is declared dead, a new High Aristor may be appointed. However, if the previous High Aristor turns up alive, then both the old and new High Aristors must battle to the death within one weeks time.

Once appointed to the rank of High Aristor it lasts a lifetime and cannot be revoked. There can only ever be one High Aristor at a time.
