Mirdàhge Mine

The Mirdàhge Mine is an extremely deep mine located on Derolis. Many years ago at the base of the Oerah Volcanoes a huge deep tunnel/pit was found. To this day nobody is sure how the tunnel was made but some speculate it was created by a giant purple worm, not long after it was discovered the dwarves of Derolis realized that it would make for a perfect mine. Since then all the ore directly adjacent to the tunnel has been dug out but more tunnels leading in every direction have kept being dug out from the original pit, creating the great Mirdàhge mine complex.

Purpose / Function

The Mirdàhge mines were and continue to be excavated and harvested for their ore. The Oerah Volcanoes of Derolis are very rich in metals and gemstones making the Mirdàhge mines be perfectly located so that the valuable metals of eastern Derolis could all be harvested.

Alterations

Originally the mines were just a massive pit presumably dug by an ancient purple worm or the like, when they first started being harvested for ore all that was built was scaffolding and mine carts to bring up ore directly adjacent to the main tunnel but over time more and more tunnels were dug off the original pit, making the original pit a hub of sorts for all the different tunnels.

Architecture

The Mirdàhge mines are built with efficiency in mind above most all else since they are meant for simply harvesting ore. Wooden scaffolding goes down the entire pit and torches are placed all across the walls. Mine carts and tracks run all through the mines leading back to the main pit.

History

The Mirdàhge pit was discovered in 5396 but not mined for a while. In 5431 a few dwarves started a small mining operation just digging out what was immediately available on the walls of the pit. The exponential growth of the mines started around 5500, when prospectors realized that it could be a very valuable in creating a large mining operation. In the year 5648 the Mirdàhge mines were bought by Xports incorporated who accelerated the growth of the mines even more. Even now while the original pit has been emptied of valuable resources the off shooting tunnels continue to be dug.
