Terma' Maeri Ruins

The Terma' Maeri were a group of strange humanoids thought to have gone extinct, they had an advanced civilization thousands of years ago but their bones do not have resemblance to any species alive today. Massive ruins of ancient buildings have partially survived thousands of years out in the Kar' Karak desert, too dangerous for most people to explore out there and tamper with the history. No documentation exists of the Terma' Maeri other than what has been found in the expansive ruins which is little as their writing seems to be indecipherable through normal magic.

Purpose / Function

The Terma 'Maeri ruins are primarily what remains of the ancient crypt built by the Terma 'Maeri. The ruins also encompass other ruined buildings which were built by the Terma 'Maeri, buildings speculated to be houses, shops, places of learning, or anything else you would find in a civilization. The main attraction, the tombs, were built to store their corpses as respect for the dead and as an offering for the gods worshipped by the Terma 'Maeri.

Alterations

Over time the buildings have deteriorated over thousands of years as the Terma 'Maeri mysteriously disappeared, no longer able to upkeep their structures. Some of the dragon born people have placed fortifications to keep the remaining ruins from collapsing, trying to keep them in good condition for their study's.

Architecture

The architecture of the Terma 'Maeri ruins is built up of mostly sandstone and granite which is carved with intricate patterns and symbols. Small details and depictions of events are also carved into the remaining blocks of stone. The buildings look like at one point they were quite impressive being possibly three stories tall from what can be seen. Fragments looking like old pathways connect many of the ruined buildings together and statues have been found within areas appearing to be ancient courtyards, even dried out fountains have been discovered, but their source of water is unknown. Within the crypts many statues, small fetishes, and even more drawings have been discovered on the many pillars which hold up the ceilings.

History

It is believed that once the Terma 'Maeri were a thriving civilization of people with one of the most beautiful cities in the world, they also worshipped gods, building temples, churches, and of course tombs. Eventually one day they all seemed to have disappeared and ever since the infrastructure which they built has been in decline, slowly falling apart being beaten by the harsh sandstorms of the Kar' Karak Desert. When the dragon born found the ruins they tried preserving it as best they could and still continue to keep them safe so that they can find out the secrets of the Terma 'Maeri.
