Firebreak
Structure
Despite being an obstinately a military/security operation, it run by a board of directors that are obligated to its shareholders.
From there it is separated into three branches: military, research, and financial.
Culture
The overriding attitude of this organization is that of soldiers defending the system from a horrific disease and those foolish enough to try and run the blockade.
The military arm has strict admission standards, requiring a minimum two tours with a major system military or security force.
This culture is especially appealing to veteran pilots because a commission comes with lucative pay, excellent equipment, and a universal respect.
Public Agenda
The primary goal is to maintain the quarantine above all else. Next, they lead the system on research on Cloud Madness. Beyond that motives becomes more ambiguous. By treaty, many of the empty habitats are about to become legitimate salvage and territorial claims to be annulled. At that point Firebreak will go from militant watchdogs to planetary government.
Assets
The biggest single asset is Firebreak Command in orbit around Lyra II.
To enforce the quarantine is ring of defense platforms and a squadron of picket ships.
History
At beginning Firebreak consisted of a coalition of governments working contain the incident. After last holdout went dark public interest faded and with it, support for the operation. Then Sigmar Niji came on the scene on a tide venture capital. His new company bought the now derelict orbital and Firebreak was reborn. From then on, this relatively small operation has been funded by pure speculation.
