Lucian de Vilenfort
Lucian de Vilenfort serves as the regent of the Middle Sorewenian Kingdom. A man of human descent, his athletic stature and compelling presence are accented by a warm, sun-kissed complexion and a mane of dark hair. His typical attire consists of elegant black garments adorned with intricate gold accents.
Lucian is a man of action. He possesses an unshakeable calm and a deep fascination with magic, which he rigorously studies. He does not favor alcohol and has little patience for those who overindulge in it. Despite this stern demeanor, he remains dedicated to his kingdom and his magical practice.
Lucian was born into the house of Vilenfort in the year 1312 of the Second Age. From a young age, he displayed a rare affinity for magic among humans, leading him to start his magical training at just six years old under the guidance of the elven mage, Vilutriel. Over the course of years, their relationship evolved, driven by shared passion for magic and mutual respect. As Lucian grew older, the deep intellectual bond they had developed transformed into romantic affection. Despite the significant age and cultural differences, the strength of their feelings led them to overcome these barriers. They were wed when Lucian was twenty years old, symbolizing the harmonious union of two different species and two magical talents. Their marriage, still strong to this day, stands as a testament to their enduring bond.
Lucian served as an advisor to two successive kings until a catastrophic demon invasion in the year 1373 left the kingdom in a state of ruin and brought the royal line of succession to an abrupt end. Amidst the chaos and uncertainty, Lucian embarked on a tireless search for any surviving kin of the late king, motivated by his duty to the kingdom and his belief in its restoration.
His relentless quest led him to a distant relative, a young boy named Émile, who had been living under the guardianship of a knight named Ferdinand de Gascone in the far-off city of Saint-Lumiere in East Sorewenian Kingdom. Recognizing the potential for continuity and renewal in Émile, Lucian took it upon himself to protect the boy's lineage and ensure the continuation of the royal line.
With the aid of his magic, Lucian brought Émile back to the remnants of the Middle Sorewenian Kingdom, to the forming loyalist faction that still held hope for a restored monarchy. Through Lucian's fierce advocacy, Émile was promptly crowned king, ensuring the line of succession was maintained. Lucian then took on the role of the regent, promising to guide and mentor the young king until he comes of age, displaying his commitment not only to the survival of the kingdom but also to its future prosperity.
The citizens of Middle Sorewenian Kingdom regard Lucian as an honorable and capable leader. His seriousness and stern demeanor are seen as indicators of his commitment and strength. The young King Émile's initiative to rule alongside Lucian is viewed as evidence of the young king's potential rather than a slight on Lucian's abilities serving to boost his status even further.
